With 4K monitors becoming more and more common, and with higher resolutions no doubt coming soon, this zoom leaves us with a tiny Word document that we must manually zoom in on each time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So here&#8217;s the solution:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In Word, click File, Options, Customize Ribbon<\/li><li>In the right pane, ensure &#8220;Developer&#8221; is checked<\/li><li>Click OK and click on the Developer tab in the ribbon near the right end of the ribbon<\/li><li>Click &#8220;Visual Basic&#8221;<\/li><li>A new window will open<\/li><li>In that new Window, expand &#8220;Normal&#8221; at the top left and right-click on Microsoft Word Objects<\/li><li>Click Insert, Module<\/li><li>Double click the module to ensure it is open and on the right hand side, paste the following:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Sub AutoOpen()\n  ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.Zoom.PageFit = wdPageFitBestFit\nEnd Sub<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click save in the toolbar (the picture of the disk)<\/li><li>Close the &#8220;Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications&#8221; window.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now whenever you open a document it will automatically zoom to the right width!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"812\" src=\"https:\/\/ayling.tech\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-1024x812.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/shortbooks.online\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-1024x812.png 1024w, https:\/\/shortbooks.online\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-300x238.png 300w, https:\/\/shortbooks.online\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-768x609.png 768w, https:\/\/shortbooks.online\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-1536x1218.png 1536w, https:\/\/shortbooks.online\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2020-05-27-Word-thumbnail-2048x1624.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my view, there is a flaw in Word that is getting worse over time: The default zoom is 100%.
